My father, Anthony “Jake” Sobeski, passed away on May 17, 2007, two days after the May primary election, after having served over thirty years as a Wyoming Area School Board Director. I was unanimously appointed by the present Board to fill the remainder of his term until December 2007. 

Because my father was up for re-election, he actively campaigned and won both the Democratic and Republican nominations in the May primary. 

His name was withdrawn from the ballot after his death and the county Democratic and Republican party committees met to appoint a replacement for his name on the ballot in November.   This is where politics come into play.  I won’t go into detail, but to say that both parties chose Sam Aritz to fill my father’s place on the ballot.

Thus, the only way for me to serve on my father’s behalf as a Wyoming Area School Board member and for the voters to have a choice, is for me to launch a “WRITE-IN” campaign.
